It is finished, my first ripple. Overall I love it. The pattern is super simple it was fun. I didn't work the ends in as I went, I left them to be weaved in at the end (per the instructions) Next ripple I will work the ends in as I go. After finishing and washing the ends just didn't seem secure and there were bits of yarn sticking out and looking all ick. I had left about 5 inches to work in, so there was plenty of fiber KWIM. Anyway, I ended up going back and adding a double crochet edging to the sides. It doesn't really take away from the overall look and I feel much better sending this off, knowing that when the person washes it again it won't unravel. LOL

Ugh...putting it aside
So I've been working on two things. Two things that I am doing for other people, as gifts/thinking of you things. However one of the things is just draining me. I cannot get into enjoying doing it. I pull it out and I dread working on it. I love the yarn...the pattern is good. I don't know I just am not INTO it. So I have decided I am putting it aside. I am going to dedicate myself to finishing the other item and then I'll go back to the one I am casting off for now.
There I feel better. :)

Babette yarns have arrived...
I am going to be working on a babette. I ordered the pattern a few months back and even started one. (but ended up not liking the yarn I was using)
But I was inspired to do another after coming across Cheryl's blog.

I can't wait to get started.

Warm Hands...
So I haven't posted here in a bit. Honestly during the travel/move I didn't pull out the hooks at all. Now that we are somewhat settled in I have started again. Since Friday I've been working on hand warmers. A very easy pattern (I'll find the pattern and link it in a bit) I just kind of alter here and there.
I have a couple of other works in progress that I need to get pics up of too.

It is finished...almost
The log cabin baby blanket is almost done. I have 6.5 more rows and then just weaving in some ends and it is complete. I really like the pattern a lot. It is one I will make again for sure. However if I make it for a baby blanket I will stop at log 9. As you can see in the picture the finished one (12 logs) is going to be large. Perfect for a throw or lap blanket, but seems a bit large and bulky for a baby blanket. I used Red Heart in Buff, Cafe, Light Blue, Navy and delft blue in this one.
Here is a picture of all the kids hats too. You can see Elijah's (red) is a bit bigger I'm thinking I must have added a row, so I'll fix that. :)
Happy Weekend...

Monday, Monday...
So, over the weekend I finished two more hats and started a scarf. I am still not in love with Elijah's hat and will be doing him another. Nathan opted to not have the ear flaps on his hat. :)
So this week will be finishing off those things. I'll post pictures when the projects are completed.

Getting ready for winter...
in Montana. :) If you don't read my daily blog, we found out Wednesday we are being transferred to Montana. We have to be there Sept. 16th. :)
I had plans to make the kids a scarf and hat anyway, since it was likely to snow here in New Mexico during our stay, and we were planning on a ski trip up to the mountains. Now, we will be living where it will be snowing for sure and we will have winter for 4 months AT LEAST, lol. :)
I made these hats yesterday. I like Anna-Elizabeth's. I am not liking Elijah's at all. I think I will end up ripping out the bottom row, then redoing the ear flaps and trim. Today I am working on the older boys with a different pattern :)

Stash Scarf..
I finished the second scarf in my ''list'' of things to do this week, this morning.
I started it a month or so ago using leftover caron simply soft from the throw I made for my mom for Mother's Day.
I will make up a quick hat and put it in the stash with the others going to the indian reservation.
I'm glad to have those two things done. They were kinda hanging around, looming (like I mentioned earlier) and now they are d.o.n.e. The rest of this week will be spent of finishing up the log cabin baby blanket I started last week. [Anna-Elizabeth borrowed my hook from that one and I haven't found it--granted I have more, but that was my favorite!]

Ugly scarf
Ugly scarf
Eh, it's done. In the beginning this was for Anna-Elizabeth. I picked out yarn or her scarf and hat and started. Well about two rows in I hated the yarn...it's not that it's bad but just for me...it's the colors, they are too COLORFUL .
So I finished it. I'll make a little hat and put it in the box with the others going to the Indian reservation.
This was made using a J hook.
Red Heart in some heinous varigated bright yarn (ha!)
and with this pattern (only I shortened the foundation chain by half and it is STILL an adult length)

With an embellishment :)
Just playing around a bit.

Loving this quote...
Saw this quote over at Nattie's blog this morning. I watched Lady Bird Johnson's funeral this weekend and so this was just perfect to stumble across.
"You should work on projects that make your heart sing."

Goals...
I feel like I have stuff looming. Not necessarily a bad looming...but just lots of stuff I want to do and I need some organization. :)
I made my longer to do/project list over there on the left. But breaking that down further this week my goal is to finish the log cabin baby blanket, finish the two corkscrew scarves that are nearing completion and do two quick hats to match scarves I've already made for the indian reservation mission project. Finishing off these projects this week will allow me to get to what I feel is a 'clean slate' or more organized point to move on to the rest of the list. Right now these feel like loose ends (the scarves and needed hats).
Next, I'll move on to my kiddos scarves/hats/fingerless gloves and work on the babette. I need to finish it in August for sure.
The that leaves me with Sept/Oct to work exclusively on Christmas projects.

Weekend Progress...
I haven't worked on it much this weekend honestly, but it's working up nicely....it's going to end up being fairly large, honestly. Rightnow it's about baby blanket size and it still has about 3-4 more 'logs' to go. So it's basically going to be a lap blanket size

Hola Amigos...
Heh, we're counting this as crafty =) I made Anna-Elizabeth's birthday cupcakes last weekend. She was in *love* with the whole set up.
Granted there is no real talent to adding sprinkles to cupcakes...but hey it works. :)

Log Cabin Baby Blanket --WIP
Another work in progress. I found this pattern, started working on it, and fell in love. I've adde another 3-4 logs since this photo. I'll update later today. :)

The Babette begins...
I usually have several things going at once. I've been reading about 'fiber artist' and a trend of being faithful to only one project at a time. I just don't think I could do that. I always have more than one thing going...but not always working on them equally, KWIM?
Currently I have started this babette and another baby blanket. I am also working on scarves and hats for this Fall/Winter for my kiddos (we'll actually get to wear them, so I'm enjoying making them!) and I always, always, always have a dishcloth or two going.
I think the idea of staying with one project till the end is a good one. I'm not necessarily knocking it. But it would also be like telling me I had to wear my hair the same way everyday for a year, or that I had to wear white shoes after labor day (ha!) I just don't see it working for me. :)

Welcom to Crafty-ish :)
Here I am. :) I'm not terribly talented. More like, I enjoy crafts. I enjoy attempting crafts...and a lot of times, what I envision is WAY better than what turns out. Heh! I dabble a bit in card making with some rubber stamping. I really enjoy crocheting. I like to cross stitch and ribbon embroidery. This blog will be my jack of all crafts and master of none, chronicle. :)
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
